Dundalk Institute of Technology
The two-storey Hospitality Training Building was designed as a wrap-around formation attached to the end of the existing MPC Building with which it combines to provide other broader functions.
Our aim was to design a building to not only meet the Client’s specific brief but to create one filled with daylight juxtaposed with interconnecting vertical and horizontal voids (light wells and glazed screens),combined with a simple palette of white planes, oak doors, screens and wall panels, grey-framed windows and off-white brickwork panels externally.
The result is a building of quiet, sophisticated character and simple clarity, setting a modern, fresh style for the future campus buildings and projecting a new and revitalized image towards the re-orientated forecourt and campus entrance.
The broad, two-levelled, concourse forms the main artery connecting the existing and future campus building to the south and the Learning and Information Resource Centre / Theatre Building to the north.
