The Jesuit Order approached Scott Tallon Walker with two distinct issues. A twenty year old nursing home at Cherryfield had become outdated and was too small for current and projected needs and the existing accommodation block for the neighbouring Community in Milltown Park was outdated, oversized and inappropriate for modern living.

The practice proposed a solution which would bring both types of accommodation together on the Cherryfield site, offering both a property solution and an architectural dynamic to resolving the two issues.

The scheme consists of two gently curved buildings, the smaller nursing home focusing inwards on a sheltered south facing garden, while the larger accommodation building opens outwards to overlook the magnificent garden and grounds of the adjoining Gonzaga College. The opposing curves creates a dialectic which both unites and divides the buildings, giving them individuality and commonality.
